Abstract

Background. Modern world trends determine the implementation of digital technologies in all spheres of economic life, which, in turn, stimulates changes in both the production process and the sphere of their distribution and redistribution. That is why there is a need to study the phenomenon of digital commerce using mobile devices.
An analysis of recent research and publications has shown that significant contributions to the study of digital economics, digital trade and mobile telephony have been made by Western scholars and leading international organizations and institutions. The issue of the impact of mobile gadgets on e-commerce remains out of the world’s leading researchers.
The aim of this research is to analyze and identify current trends in mobile telephony on the example of the Chinese and American economies.
Materials and methods. The main research methods are logical, analytical, graphical, tabular and statistical research methods.
Results. The world economy is transforming due to the rapid scientific and technological revolution and the development of communication technologies. Although the pace of digital transformation differs significantly, there has been an exponential increase in the placement of information and digital data on electronic media or on the Internet. The evolution of the digital economy and the development of the Internet of Things (IoT) has been a factor in intensifying such competition. The latter is formed by connecting devices (sensors, meters, radio frequency identification chips) and gadgets to the Internet to obtain certain information. The rapid growth of IoT use will lead to the further development of digital data expansion. Internet use increased in all groups of countries in the period from 2005 to 2018. As of 2018, half of the world’s population (51.2 %) was connected to the Internet.
Limited use of the Internet is an obstacle to expanding the market and creating added value in digital trade. The slowdown in the growth rate of the number of new Internet users in 2018–2019 is partly due to the inability to provide the relevant service and the lack of necessary devices, such as routers. Access to the Internet has become a key prerequisite for the development of digital trade, and will remain so in the future.
Conclusion. Digitalization covers almost all spheres of life. The IoT is most affected. The leaders of the IoT are the United States and China, which account for 50 % of the world. In addition, there was a significant polarization. For example, in the United States and China, consumers preferred new mobile content. This reorientation was facilitated by the use of artificial intelligence, the development of mobile online shopping, one-day events and online shopping.
